With the popularity of Blu-ray movies and estimates that they’ll outsell DVDs by 2011 it’s interesting to see that the Play Station 3 is still outselling standalone Blu-ray players. ABI Research conducted a study which showed that out of 1,000 consumers more than half stated they had no intentions to buy a standalone Blu-ray player with about a quarter saying they would next year. With many manufactures releasing their own Blu-ray players soon this many not be the news they’re hoping for. With the PS3 at $399 which includes a Blu-ray player and online connectivity and gaming, Blu-ray players should look into lowering prices if they want to compete.
