A few days ago we reported that Microsoft’s Xbox 360 surpassed Sony’s Playstation 3 in retail sales in Japan. Well after a few days on top, the Xbox 360′s sales fell as the PS3 was able to sell 10,168 units this week as compared to the 7,258 Xbox 360 units sold. Unfortunately, this was weak in comparison to the Nintendo Wii, which continues to have great success in Japan. About 53,036 Nintendo Wii consoles were sold for the week. Sony got lucky this week as Xbox 360 hardware was sold out throughout Japan, which hindered their sales. After an unexpected increase in Xbox 360 sales due to the release of the new Japanese role-playing game Tales of Vesperia, Xbox 360 sales reached an all time high. But now things seem to be back to normal as the Wii remains supreme with the PS3 right behind.
