Following Xbox’s announced price cut Sony has followed suit by announcing a $100 price cut of their own for the PlaysStation 3. Their 60 gigabyte PS3 will retail for $499. Sony also announced a new PS3 with an even larger hard drive to store downloaded video games and HD movies.

The larger storage capacity PS3′s won’t be available for North America until August however. The larger capacity PS3 is aimed at being used with their new downloadable HD movies, video games and demos service.

The Xbox vs PS3 battle is far from over and both sides have fired their salvos. Who will win this next round?
