DJ Hero sticker

Turntable DJ Hero Skin

DJ Hero has been one of my passions on the PS3. I guess I’m not much of a DJ in real life but in the gaming world I do pretty well. Still, I’ve always wanted to put a little more personality into my set and now I am able to thanks to the DJ Hero Skins. I admit that playing the game is in no way indicative of true to life skills just like playing Guitar Hero will not make me a more talented guitarist. What can I say, I love playing these games because they combine my love of music with my love of gaming!

I’ve noticed that with prolonged usage however, my DJ Hero turntable has begun to look faded and the edges often end up getting chipped (mostly from me messing up). I did purchase a set of DJ Hero Skins for my gear recently after going on a decal buying craze though and I have to say, they do look pretty cool. Aside from just looking cool however, they also serve a secondary purpose in that they keep my gear fresh. Sure the decals fade but when they do, I can just take it off and apply a new one. There is so much to choose from and they are so cheap to buy online that I can buy several different sets and even give them to friends as gifts!

Now all my PS3 gear is fitted with these decals but I am most proud of the turntable since it really shines above the others. These DJ Hero Skins are made from high quality materials and paint so they look great while also protecting against wear from most common use. I don’t really know what kind of freaky things you like to do with the turntable so don’t just take my word for it! I only use it to play games!

Playstation video game skin

Playstation controller video game skin

If you’ve owned your PS3 for a while then you’ve probably noticed that while the black controller is good at hiding that it is dirty, it doesn’t change the fact that it still is dirty and you can feel it on your hands. Also, you may want to customize the look of your controller anyway so you can pick out which one is yours when playing with friends. The Playstation 3 controller is quite ubiquitous and the fact that most people tend to have only black or silver does not help yours to stand out any.

When I purchased the video game skins (pictured above), it instantly gave my console a bit of an edge compared to other controllers out there on the market and it also made it so that my console stand out because I bought one for the console body itself. There are so many to pick from out there that it is mind boggling at first. It is much cheaper than buying a customized/painted controller and the beauty of it is you can always change it up if your tastes change further down the line.

I’ve also noticed that I’ve gotten better at sports and women seem to love me more now that I have these skins. OK I might have exaggerated that last bit just a little but the fact of the matter doesn’t change, these skins do help to make my console stand out more and match my personality a little more than just the generic black that you see in everyone elses’ living rooms. I have come across a few different sites for video game skins but so far my favorite has been Dascheap!

Seems like we have another situation on our hands.

Everybody was praising the PS3 for being better built than the 360 however Playstation 3 owners are not without their hardship as of late.

Many older (fat model PS3′s) are going kaput due to their older power supplies. Also known as the YLOD for PS3 owners it may not be all lost as of yet. As this problem is not as hard to fix as some would believe.

Replacement PS3 Power Supply

Replacement PS3 Power Supply

We got our hands on a new PS3 power supply to fix our 60 Gig original model PS3 and here is what we had to do.

Actually we will start with what we needed:

One – Obviously You Need The Replacement PS3 Power Supply

Two – Good Philips Screw Drives

Three – A Pair Of Pliers – Just in Case

Here’s a small quick photo of the inside of the older PS3 console

Inside the PS3

Inside the PS3

Now carefully follow the steps below and you’ll have a working PS3 in no time.

Step 1 – Unscrew the two screws on your memory card reader – some consoles may not have this screwed in with the power supply so please analyze thouroughly.

Step 2 – Undo the ribbon that is connecting the memory card reader

Step 3 – Then Remove the Screws around the Power Supply should be 6 but of course may be more depending on your Playstation 3 unit

Step 4 – Remove the cables that are connecting the power supply to the console (should be 2)

Step 5 – Remove  the old power supply and replace it with the new one.

Well, that’s it. Just make sure to never force any of the parts into the unit. Also make sure that you are trying this on a “older PS3 model” because the PS3 slim requires a different internal power supply.

God of War 3

We’ve all been patiently waiting for God of War 3 for a long enough time and it won’t be much longer before we can finally take our revenge on Olympus! Being the last game I ever played on the PS2, this game held a special place in my heart as the game which closed out a long and enjoyable history with the PS2. God of War 3 promises to close out the series with a bang only capable on the superior graphics of the PS3. Here are some facts about the game;

* ONLY ON THE PS3 SYSTEM- The award-winning development team leverages the processing power and technology of PLAYSTATION 3 system to make God of War III one of the most-graphically advanced next gen titles available, with even the dramatic cut screens running off the in-game engine.
* GROUNDBREAKING DEPTH OF SCALE – Kratos will explore areas up to 4 times larger than those found in God of War II, as well as carve through entire armies while navigating on the back of Titans – living, moving, breathing levels as tall as the Empire State Building.
* STYLIZED REALISM – Players will battle in detailed and unique 3D worlds lit by thousands of dynamic lights and textures with quadruple the resolution, which allows for realistic muscle striations, detailed facial expressions, and new heightened levels of brutality and gore.
* SIGNATURE GAMEPLAY – Brutal combat, intricate puzzles, exploration of awe-inspiring worlds, and a compelling and satisfying ending to Kratos’ epic story.
* SOPHISTICATED STORYLINE – The God of War III storyline is the epic conclusion to the trilogy; the storyline will be told in a way that is true to traditionalist roots in Greek mythology, from moral consequences to brutal battles against the Gods.
* RIDEABLE CREATURES – Several of the menacing creatures of Greek mythology in God of War III can now be manipulated against their will, as Kratos uses them to cross chasms, inflict blind rage against enemies, reveal puzzles and secrets, and as tools of complete annihilation.
* NEW WEAPONS AND COMBAT SYSTEM- New deadly weapons such as the Cestus — powerful metal gauntlets with devastating strength — and other brutal instruments of war that will allow Kratos to learn ruthless new techniques such as grappling with enemies and launching explosive wall-to-ground attacks.
* LIGHTING TECHNOLOGIES – The dynamic lighting solution employed in GOW III is only feasible through the computing power provided by the Cell SPUs. For example, using the High Dynamic Range Lighting (HDRL) technology, the camera – when using Krato’s sightline – will emulate the human retina, causing players to feel a sharp brightness when Kratos exits a dark area and enters a sunlit area, similar to how the human eye would need to adjust.

God of War 3 is gonna be EPIC! Sorry, a little bit of fan-boy tendencies. God of War 3 is due out for release in March of 2010 and the wait will finally be over.

gran turismo for psp-race

The new Sony PSP Go was just recently announced at E3 now it looks like more good news is on the way, Gran Turismo for the PSP! Father of the GT series Kazunori Yamauchi recently held an interview with Edmunds regarding GT Mobile and Gran Turismo 5. From the recent interview Yamauchi revealed that GT Mobile will feature every track from GT4, yes even the Nurburgring Nordscheife, and that the mobile Gran Turismo game for the PSP is a stepping stone for new GT players to get into the GT series. He also said that there is no decided upon release date for GT5, no surprise. Polyphony is also working on keeping the game below 1GB in size because the new PSP Go holds 16GB and no longer used UMD discs. Unfortunatlu there are no aftermarket parts available in GT Mobile, but that won’t stop me from getting the best racing simulator for the Sony PSP.

sony-psp-go-features

Rumors about the Sony PSP Go have been swirling over the last few days, well now Sony has made it official. Sony announced their new portable handheld gaming device at E3 today. It features a 3.8-inch LCD, 16GB of internal storage space, built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a case that is about 50 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter then the original PSP 1000. The biggest change is the lack of UMD, which is where most of the weight reduction might have come from. Games will be loaded onto the new Sony PSP Go via a Memory Stick Micro slot or downloaded over the PlayStation Network. Don’t worry about the current PSP going away however, Sony announced that games will still be developed for the PSP with UMD still. The PSP Go will also have improved music features with a new auto-playlist called Sense Me (kind of like iTunes Genius) as well as a new video deliver service that will be released. The new Sony PSP Go will be released on October 5 in North America and November 1 in Japan for about $250.

sony playstation motion controller

Nintendo has dominated the video game console market with ther Wii for quite sometime, and to take some ofthat market share (and to breath new life into an aging plateform) Microsoft debuted their Xbox 360 Project Natal. Their motion control system received a lot of fanfare, but just today Sony announced their motion controller dubbed the Playstation Motion Controller which many are saying is the best of the three after it’s debut at E3. Although Sony arrived late to the motion control part, they may take the segment by storm. From what we’ve seen so far Sony’s motion control system is very smooth and accurate and looks great at 60 frames per second. Unlike the Xbox Natal which has no stick, the Sony Playstation Motion Controller uses a control stick kind of like the Wiimote, but is much more advanced. It makes use of the PS Eye camera which tracks a purple ball at the end of the Playstation motion stick which have trigger for first person shooters. Xbox 360 might have the upper hand with their stickless route and their facial recognition technology, and a sooner release date as the Sony Motion Controller isn’t due out until Spring of 2010. It looks like the console wars are heating back up.

Yes this is a real concept from Sony. The point of it is still baffling me though. A remote that twists inward and outward. I guess I am not the best visionary on innovations. I did laugh at the Wiimote when I first saw those concepts. I had a hard time understanding how you could play a game with a tv remote. It was a tried idea with the classic “CD-I”. But anyhow the point is that I was very, very, extremely dead WRONG on my assessment of the Wiimote and perhaps I am doing the same. I guess we could twist it like a motorcycle gas pedal for racing games or something..
