Poker parties are all the rage now. They are a great way for a few friends to relax and unwind after a long day at school or work because they require very little money (unless you and your friends gamble compulsively) and are a great way to converse. Throwing a good poker party does require the host to go out of his/her way a little to plan though just so all the guests are taken care of.
With the rising popularity of Texas Hold em and other world professional poker circuit broadcasting on TV, it is no wonder that Poker is now more popular than ever. In fact many people choose to buy cheap Poker supplies and have events in their own homes. I know from personal experience that a situation where everybody throws down 5 – 10 dollars and we all play tournament style can lead to hours of fun (provided you don’t go all in on frivolous hands like I do) Here are a few tips to help you out on the next Poker party that you’re hosting.
Always play with a fresh deck of cards because they will not stick together. Nothing is worse than having to re-deal a hand because one of the cards got flipped over in the process or stuck under another card and dealt out unknowingly to the wrong person. While we’re on the topic of cheap party poker supplies we should also talk about the chips involved. Poker chips should be of enough quality that you can gauge how many chips you have just by looking at the stacks. I’ve played poker games where the chips were unmatched and it did not provide for a fun experience when you had to count all your chips individually.
Lastly, you would do well to have some food and drink on hand because people will most likely get a little hungry through the night. Also have some activities for anybody who got knocked out of the tournament so they can play a little as well.
