gran turismo for psp-race

The new Sony PSP Go was just recently announced at E3 now it looks like more good news is on the way, Gran Turismo for the PSP! Father of the GT series Kazunori Yamauchi recently held an interview with Edmunds regarding GT Mobile and Gran Turismo 5. From the recent interview Yamauchi revealed that GT Mobile will feature every track from GT4, yes even the Nurburgring Nordscheife, and that the mobile Gran Turismo game for the PSP is a stepping stone for new GT players to get into the GT series. He also said that there is no decided upon release date for GT5, no surprise. Polyphony is also working on keeping the game below 1GB in size because the new PSP Go holds 16GB and no longer used UMD discs. Unfortunatlu there are no aftermarket parts available in GT Mobile, but that won’t stop me from getting the best racing simulator for the Sony PSP.

sony-psp-go-features

Rumors about the Sony PSP Go have been swirling over the last few days, well now Sony has made it official. Sony announced their new portable handheld gaming device at E3 today. It features a 3.8-inch LCD, 16GB of internal storage space, built-in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a case that is about 50 percent smaller and 40 percent lighter then the original PSP 1000. The biggest change is the lack of UMD, which is where most of the weight reduction might have come from. Games will be loaded onto the new Sony PSP Go via a Memory Stick Micro slot or downloaded over the PlayStation Network. Don’t worry about the current PSP going away however, Sony announced that games will still be developed for the PSP with UMD still. The PSP Go will also have improved music features with a new auto-playlist called Sense Me (kind of like iTunes Genius) as well as a new video deliver service that will be released. The new Sony PSP Go will be released on October 5 in North America and November 1 in Japan for about $250.

sony playstation motion controller

Nintendo has dominated the video game console market with ther Wii for quite sometime, and to take some ofthat market share (and to breath new life into an aging plateform) Microsoft debuted their Xbox 360 Project Natal. Their motion control system received a lot of fanfare, but just today Sony announced their motion controller dubbed the Playstation Motion Controller which many are saying is the best of the three after it’s debut at E3. Although Sony arrived late to the motion control part, they may take the segment by storm. From what we’ve seen so far Sony’s motion control system is very smooth and accurate and looks great at 60 frames per second. Unlike the Xbox Natal which has no stick, the Sony Playstation Motion Controller uses a control stick kind of like the Wiimote, but is much more advanced. It makes use of the PS Eye camera which tracks a purple ball at the end of the Playstation motion stick which have trigger for first person shooters. Xbox 360 might have the upper hand with their stickless route and their facial recognition technology, and a sooner release date as the Sony Motion Controller isn’t due out until Spring of 2010. It looks like the console wars are heating back up.

Yes this is a real concept from Sony. The point of it is still baffling me though. A remote that twists inward and outward. I guess I am not the best visionary on innovations. I did laugh at the Wiimote when I first saw those concepts. I had a hard time understanding how you could play a game with a tv remote. It was a tried idea with the classic “CD-I”. But anyhow the point is that I was very, very, extremely dead WRONG on my assessment of the Wiimote and perhaps I am doing the same. I guess we could twist it like a motorcycle gas pedal for racing games or something..

playstation-home
Can’t say we didn’t see this coming but there are reports now that the Playstation Home has already been hacked. Exploiting various weaknesses in the code, hackers have been able to get into the Playstation Home servers and upload or delete whatever files they want. Through hacking, Playstation Home users have been able to modify their environment more so than what Sony allows. People can watch their own movies and listen to their own music in Playstation Home (THOSE MONSTERS!). Experts have also stated that the hacks will allow the few unscrupulous people on the internet to steal passwords and account information from Playstation Home users.

mirrors-edge-time-trial

No you don’t get the whole game from the unlock, but the Mirror’s Edge demo had its time trial unlocked earlier this week. The developers of the game were a little disappointed with the sales and hopes that by unlocking the time trial mode, will hook in some additional customers. Mirror’s Edge met with lukewarm reviews from critics who often cited its innovative concept as a strong plus but its limited replayability and faulty game mechanics as a strong minus. The time trial mode for Mirror’s Edge will have the player participating in a race by trying to beat certain timing records. The time trial mode for the Mirror’s Edge demo can be unlocked by simply choosing time trial in the menu and entering any 16 digit unlock code.

G4’s Attack of the Show is trying to get a mob going in the Playstation Home tonight. The gathering will culminate in a dance party where everyone is expected to do the robot. There had already been a Playstation Home dance party during the opening day but this one should be a lot bigger now that most people have had a chance to familiarize themselves with the controls of Playstation home. Female avatars should be careful at this gathering as we have gotten many reports of hungry hungry males jumping any female avatar they see in Playstation Home. The Gathering will start at 7pm EST and takes place in the mall area of Playstation Home. Get ready to dance the robot!
